VUCA is a concept that originated with students at the U.S. Army War College to describe the volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity of the world after the Cold War. In today's pandemic era, this concept is clearly defines our current environment and the leadership required to navigate it successfully.
Unpredictable events happening outside an organization can be negative or positive, (think of the ALS Bucket Challenge!) but either present greater VUCA, which makes it more difficult for leaders to make decisions.
From the battlefield to Wall Street to Main Street, to even yes, our hospital foundation board rooms, leaders have begun to realize that their organizations now face not only problems, in the traditional sense of situations which can be planned for and—at least theoretically—solved, but also dilemmas, these new and unclear situations that by their very nature cannot be solved.
on 12/1/21, Health Giving presents a Summit devoted to breaking down each of these items within VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity), and then turns it on its head to create a path of clarity and productivity within the storm.
For those new to VUCA, here is what it looks like when broken down:
Volatility – Dealing with the speed of change in the market and fluctuations in demand.
Uncertainty – Coping with the inability to predict the future with the confidence desired.
Complexity – The multiplying effects of a wide variety of factors to be taken into account.
Ambiguity – Lack of clarity interpreting circumstances when there is limited information.
Do any (or all) of these sound familiar? Then you will want to join us to learn how to make VUCA work for you.
Register here and we will see you on 12/1/21!
